Mako Sharks are...Delicious!
I went grocery shopping today and they were all out of my favorite meal, fresh Thresher shark. They had mako shark, so I bought that instead and, DAMN, are makos tasty! As much as I like to eat Thresher shark, I started feeling bad about eating them after I saw some footage of a thresher...They are too damn cute and friendly looking! Look:
See?! Don't they look friendly? Maybe I'm just weird about animals...Any how, on the other hand, Mako sharks are known man-eaters and have attacked many surfers.
See? Not so friendly looking and definately NOT something I want to see when I'm out surfing.
This reminds me of a story I saw in the paper a couple years back...A diver was spear fishing around the kelp patties off of Coronado and was surfacing. He looked behind him and saw a mako shark charging him, full speed & jaws open. Luckly the guy had the presence of mind to lower his spear gun and fired one shot through the gills, killing the shark instantly. I would of died of a freakin' heart attack.
So, if you hear about a blonde chick in San Diego (or Costa Rica in December) that was attacked by a Mako shark, that would be me, reaping the benfits of karma for eating some angry Mako's mommy.

3 Shenanigans:
What about the chances we'll hear about some blonde chick attacking a Mako shark and dragging it up the beach for a barbeque?
So what does shark taste like?
Haha...I guess that's true. I sure as hell would try to drag a shark to shore and bbq it, if it tried to attack me while surfing...I think the shark may have the advantage, though, so I promise nothing.
Shark is super yummy. It doesn't have any sort of fishy taste to it and it very flaky and juicy (mako is juicier then thresher). Plus it's very good for you...I highly recommend it!
I'm gonna try me some mako shark on monday. Never had shark before, ever...but it's the boyfriend's birthday, so we're gonna eat us some shark.
Any recommendations on how to cook it up? We're gonna BBQ the fishy...fun!!
