How is This NOT Child Porn?!

Okay, I'm thoroughly confused. For months, people have been buzzing and blogging about Daniel Radcliffe (a.k.a. Harry Potter) starring in the play "Equus". The big deal is that Harry Potter actor, Daniel Radcliffe, is sheding his squeaky clean image and he's appearing nude in this play. Oh, and "Equus" is a play about Daniel's character's erotic obsession with horses.

So this is where I'm confused. Daniel Radcliffe is a minor. Daniel Radcliffe gets paid to appear nude in a weird beastiality play. How is this NOT child porn?! I understand that this is the art of theater and what not, but after reading all of these creepy chicks blogging/writing about Daniels "wand", "unsheathing" and how they'd like to "be his little play horsey"...EWWWWWW.

Creepy chicks got me wondering: "Isn't this ACTUALLY child pornography?!". So I did a bit of research and from what I came up with, this IS actually child porn. I guess it doesn't matter since he is a boy/almost-man, but if this was an underaged girl, you know people would be freaking out. Right?

Radcliffe is 17, and the age-of-consent it 16 in the UK.

Not illegal.

First guy is right. The age-of-consent in the UK is 16. So yeah, it isn't illegal.

The age of consent means at what age someone can have sex legally. It has nothing to do with porn. The age of consent is 16 in the USA too, but you can't pose for naked pictures until you are 18...

well i am not going to say my name.
but how is daniel rad cliff he is an adult he makes his own chocies leave him alone i am a fan of harry potter movies i watch them all the time and if you people are scare of child pornography dont let your child on the computer.besides look at paris hilton or the girl from high school musical those girls didnt get abused by their bad behaveior

Well actually, Daniel Radcliff was only 17 when he did the "Equus" play and when these promotional pictures were taken, so he wasn't technically an adult at the time.

I'm not saying that Daniel had bad judgement in doing the play, I'm simply pointing out that sexually charged images of naked people under 18 are technically child pornography. If it was a young female actor in the same position, people and the media would be freaking out...

even though the age of consent for PORN is 18 (for ordinary sex being 16) in the UK, this is clear NOT porn

At 11/16/2007 11:26 PM, Anonymous Anonymous had the nerve to say...

It is not porn legally pornography is defined as of having intercourse , this is considered art in the legal code of laws

post #2, you talk as if that's something that's normal, that somehow should be accepted. have you any idea how adsurd the logic behind what you said is?

no judge in their right mind would enforce such an inconsistency

hey all u guys need to shut up about this. Its no big deal. Dan chose to do this nude seen. If you don't want your kids to see him in this role, then don't let them see the play, and don't tell them about it. Its that easy. Just leave him alone about it. U guys are crazy to think this is pron, its just the human body, its beautiful. Its all done very classie.

In the UK you can appear nude starting from the age of 16, it has nothing to do with the age of consent for sex.

First off, he obviously was NOT a child when he took this photo, therefore this wouldn't even be considered child pornography (child pornography is ages 12 and down). Secondly, porn has to do with having any sort of intercourse or masturbation. Which he clearly isn't having or doing in any sort of way. These are merely pictures that he chose to do for art, not erotica. Its done tastefully too. So who f-ing cares?? If your that uncomfortable with it, don't look at it. Its that simple

If you have to "research" to eventually "figure out" over an extended period of time that something is child porn, then it IS NOT.

You'll know child porn when you see it.

Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to go "research" to figure out if my neighbour is a witch ... I'm almost sure.

ummm... the play isn't about a boy with a sexual fetish for horses.

It's a religous obsession. And when that obsession gets in the way of his normal sexual development, he lashes out and blinds six horses with a large metal spike.

The nudity happens when he's about to lose his virginity - to a girl - yup, a real human girl.

Not a horse... sorry to disappoint.

;)
