I Want Nike Plus!
Valentines day is coming up and Stefan and I were discussing if we were going to get each other gifts. I'm always the party pooper that says no gifts, because recently I just havn't had the time to think of a really cool gift to give Stefan. So since we decided no gifts, Stefan told me what he was going to get me and now I WANT IT SO BAD! I had never even heard of it before, but I checked it out and I want the Nike+ system!
The Nike+ System is a device that is inserted into the sole of your Nike+ shoes, which synchs with your iPod Nano. This system tracks your run, your progress with multiple runs, calories burned, miles traveled, etc. There is also a Nike+ community where you can make the leaderboards for miles run. You can even challenge people to running! This is perfect for me because I like running, but I LOVE competing ;).
Unfortunately, I don't have the Nike+ shoes ($70 - $115 depending on the style), or the sport kit ($29), OR an iPod Nano ($199 - $249). So, I'll have to pony up $400 to get in gear...Nonetheless, I can't wait! What a fun way to be motivated to workout!

9 Shenanigans:
hey,
you don't need to buy the nike+ compatible shoes if you don't want to. you can either make your own chip pouch or buy one...
check out these sites for more info (full disclosure, one of the site is my own)

I just so happen to be handy with a sewing machine, so I can create my own shoepod, but since I am due for a new pair of running shoes, I might just try out those custom Nike+'s. But, I don't have a Nano, I have a Mini (Thanks Shawn :D ). That's the part that I hate. Having to buy another iPod when I already have an awesome one.
Avinio - That's not so shocking. I don't wear Nike's either :)...Yet...
I don't own/use nike shoes either. Adidas and I'd be all over it (provided they looked halfway stylish)...but check out this cool running 'kit' from Puma. trainaway.puma.com (it'll also run about $400 i believe. oddly available at the W hotel store here in San Diego)

Do these shoes have the same type of features as the nike plus system where the runner can race other people? I think that was one of the "big sells" for summer. She is muy competitive.
It looked to me like a marketing kit aimed at business travelers. A fold up running outfit with a spot in your shoe for a hotel key card.
monks: you are right in that it is for the trendy travelling runner. it would seem that if only there were a place to insert the nike+ gadget, it'd be all the same game. there was something else i spied regarding 'socio-internet' running tracking, but i'd have to re-find it.
You know what? If I had that system it'd only tell me how many times I'd been to the bar and how far it was LOL
Must... get up... off... my lazy butt...
Oh, and tell Stefan to go spend ;)
I only have one pair of nike trainers, rift type, that have a split toe. This week I've trying (unsuccessfully) to get my tongue split to match.
:(
Nike with Ipod applications. Nike and Apple coming together is a perfect combination and if this can motivate a healthier lifestyle than more power to them.
