When Monkeys Attack
Kuta was being clutzy this morning and accidently stomped on Monkey, which sent her into attack mode. The dumb bitch tried to eat Kutas face and tore into his eyebrow pretty good before we could separate them (1 second later).

Can't we all just get along?!
Kuta could definately use another stitch or three, but I really don't trust a Puerto Rican vet that I don't know to put Kuta under anesthesia (no offense to Puerto Rican vets, but Kuta is old and has had some weird health problems). So, Stefan and I are keeping the wound clean and hopefully it will heal okay. If not, I'm flying Robin down to PR to teach Stefan and I how to stitch up a dog face...
Arg. F&$^ing Monkey. I'm not down with overly aggressive dogs and Monkey (an English Staffordshire Bull Terrier) just has that in her blood. If anyone could break the aggressive tendancy it would be Stefan and I, but we've had no luck.

5 Shenanigans:
Poor Kuta dog. I had monkey on her back on my lap rubbing her belly and he came high stepping over for a little love for himself and stepped right on her belly...Monkey yelped and snapped at him all in one instant and for the first time ever, locked on when she bit him. Usually, she just snarls makes a lot of scary noises but doesn't actually do any damage. I guess it only takes once.
Summers right. We have had monkey since she was a puppy and have always punished her for showing any signs of aggression. Despite all this, she is a live wire around any dog smaller than her, any dog that shows any sign of weakness (older or injured) and is like a drunk high school football player (Grid Iron) on steroids...at any excuse she's ready to fight. She goes into attack mode or "ready to attack" mode whenever she hears barking, growling or other dogs barking.
Monkey is going to be a handful. I am sorry Kuta.
That'll teach him to stomp on a lady, especially a Staffy. Get well soon, Kuta (Didn't I say that not so long ago?)
Strange wee have pet problems about the same time. My boy Raku is in the hospital overnight, breathing difficulties. Prognosis don't look good says vet. :(
Kuta didn't mean to stomp on her. He's just not the most graceful dog, ever since he had some sort of mystery neurological disorder a few years ago. At least he can walk again...
I hope Raku recovers! Did the vet say what was wrong with him? Hopefully it's just a monster hairball...
Afraid it's not a hairball, but could be a tumor. He's awake after the X-ray now and had 100ml of fluid drained from his lungs.
He doesn't seem to be in pain, at the moment and was quite hungry, after having fasted for the X-ray. The vet thinks the fluid will come back and could possibly be drained again. We'll see how he goes.
Fingers (and paws) crossed.
How did Kuta's neurological disorder come about?
Fingers crossed for Raku.
Kuta's neurological disorder showed up mysteriously. I noticed he was walking a little bit funny one day and within 3 days he had no use of his hind legs. After $5000 worth of testing, the neurologist at Helen Woodwards Center was stumped. She diagnosed him with spinal myelomeningitis, but didn't know what caused it or how to treat it. So he was put on steroids (which is what vets give to animals when they don't know what else to do).
Kuta was miserable on steroids, it made him bloated and always feeling hungry and thirsty, so I weened him off of them after a couple of months and he's okay now, just a bit clumsy.
