Linksys Routers are Crap

I just thought that everyone would like to know that Linksys wireless routers are crappy. Less then a year ago, the office started getting kicked off the internet more and more frequently, and the fix was to unplug and replug in the Linksys router, which would fix it for a little while. Then our computers started getting errors trying to connect to the wireless network. Then the router would kick us off the internet in 30 minute intervals. Finally we got fed up and bought a new Linksys Wireless-G Broadband router. That was less than 1 year ago and once again, the stupid new router is starting to kick us off the internet a few times a day again. What a piece of crap.

I’m going back to using the Apple Airport, which I never had a single problem with. I switched to Linksys because someone told me that they were really good routers. That someone apparently has never used an Apple product before…

(By the way, the Linksys router just kicked me off the internet again…for the 8th time today…)

The DSL Modem we just got in Puerto Rico is a SpeedTouch wire less router, hard wire router and VOIP switch. We have only had it about an hour, but it is working well

I have a linksys as well. Sounds like it could be conflicting with another wireless network on the same channel. Login to the router and click on “Wireless”. Click the dropdown beside “Wireless Channel”. I think 6 is the default. I had a similar problem when I moved to my apartment. Channel 11 worked the best for me but you may have to play around with the settings… Hope that helps.

I googled “linksys router piece of crap” and found your post. I cannot agree more! I used 3 different linksys models, all have the same problem… they are worse than piece of crap! i gave up and recycled them all! Now I have D-link extream router, the best i ever used, super fast and stable.

Thank you for stating that Linkys routers are crap, because it is sooooo true! I wasted so much time with their customer service after the Linksys router I bought kept failing. They were unable to resolve the problem. They offered to take the router back, and said that my particular router was probably defective. No way!!!! They used up 3 hours of my time on the phone with them, and that is the conclusion that they came up with? I threw it in the trash, and bought a Belkin router, and it works just fine. Sweet!!!!

I am so pissed with LINKSYS. I have a router that has gone out of warranty. They won’t even chat to me about it because it’s past their warranty period. They want me to pay $29 for some guy who barely speaks English to speak with me about it. I couldn’t agree more.. I finally gave up and through the Linksys router I had in the garbage. It was continuously forcing me to unplug and replug the power cord as it would drop me off the internet randomly for years. This is a VERY common problem with LINKSYS to which there is NO SOLUTION!! Linksys is CRAP!
