Robin Quasebarth

June25

My grandma has been digging through pictures lately and gave me this one of my mom, Rita Robin Quasebarth, circa 1971:

Doesn’t my mom look like a “Rita”? Haha…maybe that’s why she went by her middle name her whole life. I’m pretty grateful that I didn’t get the last name of Quasebarth (no offense grandpa!). Don’t you have to be able to spell your name to graduate from kindergarten?! I would have been held back at least 5 years. It took me that long to really figure out the difference between a lowercase “g” and a lowercase “q”, let alone to spell Q-U-A-S-E-B-A-R-T-H correctly…

You should do a photoshop add in of yourself, you’ll be like sisters.

Quasebarth, seriously? Never heard that one before, sounds like something George Lucas would make up.

    :)

    Summer,

There are a lot of Quasebarths here on the East Coast. Everyone I am related to is descended from Gustav Quasebarth, who arrived from Hamburg around 1900. We may be cousins, Gustav had 13 children.

Yes, the name is awful, it’s even considered strange in Germany. So I changed it back in 1981 and never regretted it.

Here’s the website of the defunct family company, founded by Norman Quasebarth. There is some family info on it you may find interesting.

Eric - Well that’s pretty darn interesting. As a matter of fact we are related! According to my mom (Robin Quasebarth). Werner Quasebarth is my grandfathers uncle. My grandfathers name is Edmund Adolph Quasebarth.

If you’d like some more pictures of Quasebarths for the website, I can get some from my grandparents. Just let me know :)!

Oh, and it’s pretty hilarious that you changed your name from Quasebarth to such a standard name as Anderson :). haha

Hi Summer! Your use of the name Quasebarth caught my attention as I try to do some family research for my husband. Could you please contact me via email for privacy? Would love to ask some questions. Thanks so much! My best, Bev

Summer! Thanks for putting the retro pic of your mom on your blog! From a quick google search I found it…then Eric…then Ruth Anne Q! They have been great. Now you all have ‘cousins’ down south in NC.

I’m from Peoria, Illinois. I’ve been in Tennessee for 26 years. Most of the Quasebarths live in Indiana.

Yes, I too had trouble with Quasebarth as a child, but then I grew up! As a child they called me Quase, and the girls called me Eddie, that was cool!
You should check into your heritage, my father was in WWII, german decent, two purple hearts, bronze star, good conduct metals, at the age of 18 - 21. You should be proud of who you are, because the name doesn’t make the person, but the person makes the name.
Rumor has it that Quasen married a Barth, she was the last child, so they combined the names to get Quasenbarth, so when they came to the states they dropped the “n” and got Quasebarth.
